 Mindful Play and Tools for Resilience Retreat, October 18-22, 2020.  

 How does our state of being affect the mark we make in the world?  

The intention of our time together is replenishment of body, mind and spirit, utilizing mindful  and creative practices that build resilience. Bringing together mindful movement of body with breath, contemplative practice balanced with deep explorations of negative space, brush writing, and mark making! This retreat is not about obtaining technical proficiency, it is about cultivating resilience to live fully amidst the uncertainty in life. No calligraphy or art experience is required! Just bring your eyes and hands and an open mind!  Join Peter Fraterdeus, Pamela Paulsrud, and Kate Miller for a special four day retreat on the wooded shores of Lake Superior. 

Our venue is Wild Rice Retreat Center near Bayfield, Wisconsin.

Relax, Heal & Transform with Yoga Nidra

The Third Sunday of each month, 7pm to 8:30pm at the Washburn Meditation Center
Facilitated by Kate Miller accompanied with Harmonic Sounds by Peter Fraterdeus

This 90-minute session begins with gentle asana practice and pranayama to prepare the body and nervous system for an extended period in savasana. Participants will then be guided through Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation with profound effects on the body and the mind. It is practiced most optimally by lying down comfortably on the back. The process guides you through a series of breath, body and awareness techniques moving the mind from an ordinary waking state to a deep meditative alpha or theta state of awareness. Entering this sleep-like state, while staying fully awake and aware, promotes new energy, physical and mental stress melts away.

Body as a Barometer Mindfulness practice

  With a regular practice we become more present, therefore able to break away from habitual ineffective patterns of thinking and acting. When we are more present we become more flexible, creative and ultimately more resilient therefore enjoy better      health and well-being. 

Awaken to innate wisdom and let go of the "frenzied" life of constant doing to feel more worthy.
 Learning to use our body as a barometer -  we develop self compassion and can be with "what is"
  As we develop self compassion, we enhance our relationship with self and others.
We begin to let go of who we think we're to be and accept who we are.

Contemplative Journeys is a collaborative project with musician, composer, Michelle Qureshi. It intertwines the prose of sages, through spoken word, with lush musical arrangements that provoke reflective thought on existence and the nature of things. 
A beautiful tapestry of music opens you to a deep state of mindfulness and relaxation while being guided through three inspired, thoughtful readings.  Contemplative Journeys may be listened to as a guided meditation, reflective listening, a relaxation, or spiritual practice. It is our wish that it brings you peace, clarity, and serenity.
